Supporting Doctor-in-Training on the Big Island

We support dedicated Internists who consider practice opportunities on the Island of Hawaii as primary care providers, or sub-specialists. Internal Medicine residents from the mainland and international programs may also take the elective through UHIMRP sponsorship.

  • The Rural Health Elective is established to offer University of Hawaii Internal Medicine Residents a one month rotation in Hilo.

  • This opportunity will give you a clear view of the private practice experience, and how you can succeed.
  • The four-week rotation is available to JABSOM MS-4 and PGY 1-3 residents in the UHIMRP.
  • Hui Kahu Malama will defray costs for travel and housing in Hilo.
